BORBACHA PARDARIA - SIKKIM MOTH
Borbacha pardaria is a
species of moth within the family Geometridae, first described by Achille
Guenée in 1857. It is primarily distributed across South and Southeast Asia,
with documented sightings in the specifically the North-east Himalayas and
Western Ghats.
Visually, the moth is
characterized by prominent black or dark spots on both the forewings and
hindwings. Often displaying a yellowish or pale brown ground colour with darker
speckling (mottling), which provides camouflage against tree bark or dried
leaves. This mottled pattern serves as highly effective camouflage against the
bark and dried foliage of its natural habitat.
