Special feature: The male Crimson Sunbird is known
for its attractive prominent crimson head, back, throat and upper breast.
However,
an adult male during the non-breeding period sheds most of his crimson feathers
on his head and breast, taking on an eclipse dress. When the next breeding

Crimson Sunbird (Aethopyga siparaja) was declared the National Bird of
Singapore on Oct. 31, 2015.
